Firefox keyword search feature…I Like
0Do you know that you can do search by just key your search query in the address bar and also choose which search engine to do it at the same time? e.g “i green book” will use google images to search for image “w metaphysics” will search for article in wikipedia
One feature i love about firefox to highlight here is keyword search feature build into Firefox 3.5 onwards
(NOTE: Screenshot below is nightly build bleeding edge firefox version. But dun worry it should look the same in previous version)
By default there is no keyword defined in each search engine in your search box. You can set by following the steps below
In my case, i’ve set
g for google.com,
a for answers.com,
w for wikipedia.org,
y for youtube.com,
b for bing.com
i for images.google.com
Now you can try to type in “w Metaphysics” and press enter will bring you to wikipedia article
“i red book” will bring you directly to images.google.com and search for the images of red book
go a head and give it a try.
in my case i can just key in “y funny thai ads” will give me search result directly inside youtube.
