Firefox keyword search feature…I Like
Jul 22nd
Do you know that you can do search by just key your search query in the address bar and also choose which search engine to do it at the same time? e.g “i green book” will use google images to search for image “w metaphysics” will search for article in wikipedia
One feature i love about firefox to highlight here is keyword search feature build into Firefox 3.5 onwards
(NOTE: Screenshot below is nightly build bleeding edge firefox version. But dun worry it should look the same in previous version)
By default there is no keyword defined in each search engine in your search box. You can set by following the steps below
In my case, i’ve set
g for google.com,
a for answers.com,
w for wikipedia.org,
y for youtube.com,
b for bing.com
i for images.google.com
Now you can try to type in “w Metaphysics” and press enter will bring you to wikipedia article
“i red book” will bring you directly to images.google.com and search for the images of red book
go a head and give it a try.
in my case i can just key in “y funny thai ads” will give me search result directly inside youtube.

TM HSBB Package
Mar 25th
TM has launched the highly publicized upgrade to it’s local network – on steroid – Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Internet access along with package to challenge astro for paid media content. http://www.unifi.my/ . Not much of a thing to celebrate with. and pricing is not going to bring down the local overpriced and suckky internet scene in Malaysia.
It is a huge upgrade to the Internet scene and currently only available to TTDI, bangsar and some other location. Full disclosure of where it will be available is not yet release in their site. Not much info for now. Whether they will cap the connection for Fair Use Policy or not is still unknown. One thing to note that the name Unifi sux.
All the package shown in the pricing below comes with 5 MB RM149, 10 MB RM199 and 20 MB RM 149 FTTH along with dedicated 8MB line for Paid Video content in which the content has not been announce yet (This means you’ll get x MB + 8MB for video). Definitely no Discovery and NGC channel because they has signed exclusive broadcast right to astro.
One thing to note that TM has cap the bandwidth to alot of site currently namely, youtube and facebook because the consumption of Malaysian to those site is too huge for our intenration link to handle. Sad, this upgrade does not couple with announcement of more and faster link to internationl line which mean even we get such a big bandwdith FTTH, it won’t give you any improvement to the speed on international scale. What is the use of having 100 MB line to connect to Malaysian sites where international site can only goes up to 1MB?
TM should fix the international link and add more link to international line rather than gives more bandwidth locally but internationally it is at a crawl rate. A truly 1Malaysia screw up, money are put into the wrong pocket and spend into wrong area.
I’d rather having 2MB bandwidth and to have 2MB bandwidth 24/7 uninterrupted to any server internationally. Now it’s like go here 2MB go there 0.2MB and go another place 1MB. Its like driving at the trunk road or coastal roads
